Davey's Dudes
David (Davey) is our 6 year old son with autism. A kind soul, he shows concern for those around him, whether it be a friend at school who gets hurt or one of us having a rough day. His love for cars and trucks began with the VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels he played with as a baby and has since evolved to surfing Carvana asking us daily if we're in the market for a new car. Davey's catchphrase is, "What kind of car you drive?" It's his way of getting to know people.
Aside from knowing makes and models of cars, he also enjoys video games (especially Super Mario), Hot Wheels, trains, Pete the Cat books, looking at his amusement park maps and his globe, Miracle League baseball, helping Mommy at home, running errands with Daddy (so he can go for a ride in Daddy's truck), playing with his sister (when they're not bickering like siblings), and learning new things. The way his little mind absorbs information is incredible. He's an underdog to the world around him and a champion to those whose hearts he touches by simply being.
The Autism Society of NC provides support and resources for families like ours all across the state.
