Walking with Nolan
Walking with Nolan is back for our second year raising money for the Autism Society of NC. We are so humbled by all the support we received in 2016 from our team members, our donors and our sponsors! This year, we hope to continue to raise more autism awareness for NC families that need OUR help.
Our son Nolan turns 5 this year. In April 2015, his regression began and his speech started to trickle away; and August will mark two years since Nolan lost his last word (It was "go!") and he became non-verbal.
Every day is challenging, but every day is also blessed. We are blessed to be surrounded by family that love unconditionally, friends that don't judge, teachers that educate and speech/OT & ABA therapists that help us grow.
There are families living on the spectrum that aren't as fortunate. We want to help those that reach out to the Autism Society of NC. This journey is different for every family living with autism, but one thing transcends every diagnosis ... we ALL need support. It takes a village!
We are grateful ASNC is able to give that support to so many. And we are honored to raise money through Walking with Nolan to help make that happen.
The Autism Society of North Carolina is the leading statewide resource organization serving people across the autism spectrum throughout their lifespans.
We understand the challenges of the autism community because we work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families every day. We offer advocacy, training and education, and direct care that helps individuals with autism to, increase their social and communication skills, develop independent-living skills, succeed in school or on the job, participate in community activities, and advocate for themselves.
We have a statewide network of resources, connecting individuals with autism and their families to life-changing programs and supports unavailable anywhere else.
