The Page of William's Mom

It is with pride that I announce William has had a wonderful year being on the Autism Spectrum. Sure, there have been meltdowns and a lot of defiance, but he has matured and is in the process of becoming an even more awesome kid.
Keeping William on track is hard. Thankfully, the Autism Society of North Carolina is there for me when I am about to go over a ledge. They provide me with resources and this year a week all by myself while William was attending Camp Royall!!! And not until William was a camp did I realize just how exhausting it is raising a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Community and government supports for families like mine are few and far between. Each year more and more children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder forcing moms and dads to navigate a world where we are misunderstood and excluded, sometimes even within our own families!
So, if you have interacted with William at all in the past year, I hope you will consider donating to our Wes for President team as we walk through Jaycee Park in Greensboro on September 24th.
The Autism Society of North Carolina is the leading statewide resource organization serving people across the autism spectrum throughout their lifespans.
We understand the challenges of the autism community because we work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families every day. We offer advocacy, training and education, and direct care that helps individuals with autism to, increase their social and communication skills, develop independent-living skills, succeed in school or on the job, participate in community activities, and advocate for themselves.
We have a statewide network of resources, connecting individuals with autism and their families to life-changing programs and supports unavailable anywhere else.
