A Mommy's First Race...
For many years I've wanted to participate in 5Ks. There was only one problem....I wasn't a runner! A few weeks ago I began jogging daily with a plan to run a 5k in the coming months. While this run is much sooner than I anticipated (and my time will definitely be slow) this is for a great cause that is near and dear to my heart! As most of you know, BJ is on the Autism spectrum. While I would not change a thing about my perfect son it can be difficult at times. Having resources for those with Autism and their families is so important!
"Proceeds from the Coastal NC Run/Walk for Autism will fund local programs of the Autism Society of North Carolina, the leading statewide resource organization serving the over 65,000 people in NC across the spectrum throughout their lifespans. Participation in this event has helped ASNC to open a Social Recreation Center in Wilmington that offers summer day camps, afterschool care, and adult programs. Funding from the Run/Walk also enabled ASNC to bring other programs to the region, including LifeLong Interventions, ASNC’s comprehensive treatment program for children and adults, and workshops with ASNC clinical experts."
I am so excited for this run to be my very first and even more so that it is for such a great cause! Please consider helping me reach my goal of $500 to help benefit the ASNC!
Thank you for supporting the Coastal NC Run/Walk for Autism! Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
The Autism Society of North Carolina is the leading statewide resource organization serving people across the autism spectrum throughout their lifespans.
We understand the challenges of the autism community because we work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families every day. We offer advocacy, training and education, and direct care that helps individuals with autism to, increase their social and communication skills, develop independent-living skills, succeed in school or on the job, participate in community activities, and advocate for themselves.
We have a statewide network of resources, connecting individuals with autism and their families to life-changing programs and supports unavailable anywhere else.
