Team Neil 2017 Autism Walk
My name is Neil Rao and I have Autism. I was diagnosed as a kid and am now a college student at Pitt Community College. I was in special education classes throughout school and then I worked really, really hard to get my GED. This was important to me because it was a dream that I had for a long time.
The North Carolina Autism Society offers support services to children and adults with Autism, like me. This walk is a fundraiser for this organization. I decided to participate in the walk and raise money because I want to be part of the Autism community. I hope that being part of this community will give me support and give me a chance to meet people and make friends.
The Walk/Run is on Saturday, April 29th in Greenville, NC. My team, called Team Neil, currently has me, my Mom, my sister Preethi and my Mom's friend Sheela Aunty. Our team goal is to raise $500.
Thank you for supporting the Eastern Run/Walk for Autism. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
The Autism Society of North Carolina is the leading statewide resource organization serving people across the autism spectrum throughout their lifespans.
We understand the challenges of the autism community because we work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families every day. We offer advocacy, training and education, and direct care that helps individuals with autism to, increase their social and communication skills, develop independent-living skills, succeed in school or on the job, participate in community activities, and advocate for themselves.
We have a statewide network of resources, connecting individuals with autism and their families to life-changing programs and supports unavailable anywhere else.
