HOPE is the cornerstone of EVERYTHING. Without it, our lives can take very different paths.
I'll never forget the day we brought Ryan to a developmental pediatrician to try to understand his delays. He was 2. It was the first time anyone had used the word "Autism" It wasn't even on our radar and knocked the wind out of us for a hot second.
On Saturday, October 14th we are proudly joining Ryan’s school - Learn with the Best - in the Autism Society’s Annual Walk/Run for Autism. Organizations, like the Autism Society, provide invaluable education and resources for families. We have relied on them often and hope other families can feel empowered the way we have.
Make no mistake, Ryan is a lucky one on the spectrum. He is happy, healthy and will most likely live a fulfilling life on his own terms. He has an army of dedicated people who have given us the HOPE we needed from the start. And for that we are forever grateful. We wish this for every Autism family.

The Autism Society of North Carolina is the leading statewide resource organization serving people across the autism spectrum throughout their lifespans.
We understand the challenges of the autism community because we work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families every day. We offer advocacy, training and education, and direct care that helps individuals with autism to, increase their social and communication skills, develop independent-living skills, succeed in school or on the job, participate in community activities, and advocate for themselves.
We have a statewide network of resources, connecting individuals with autism and their families to life-changing programs and supports unavailable anywhere else.
