Jesse Wills' Personal Fundraising Page for the 2020 WNC Run/Walk for Autism
This the 15th year the Wills Family has participated in the WNC Run/Walk for Autism.
The Autism Society of NC is the first place we turn to for information, services, guidance, and advice. We want to support the Autism Society in its efforts, and the WNC Run/Walk for Autism provides us the perfect opportunity to do so. It is also the perfect opportunity for family and friends to support Jesse and the amazing man he has become.
At thirty-nine, Jesse continues to work at Red Lobster as a silver roller; his employment twenty hours a week there is made possible by his job coaches who are provided and trained by the Autism Society. He is considered a "valuable and valued employee." This is his 13th year working at the Lobster. Of course, right now during the "Safer to Stay Home" phase of the NC pandemic lockdown, Jesse is on "staycation" in his supported living home, one of two managed by the Autism Society here in Asheville. He loves taking daily walks with his housemates and staff, pursuing his goals in the safety of his home, and FaceTiming with his mom and dad several times a week!
A great strength of The Autism Society of NC is the outstanding training it gives to all its employees who provide direct care for individuals on the autism spectrum. Another strength is a strong advocacy program which benefits every family with a family member on the autism spectrum. We believe the Autism Society of NC is key to ensuring that Jesse will continue to live life as independently as possible and to his fullest potential. Isn't that what we wish for all our loved ones?
