How do I form a team? You can create a team any way you’d like. A team can be co-workers getting together for fun or company sponsored as an incentive, team building, or reward for success. A team could be friends, neighbors, classmates, club members, social or recreational groups, sports teams, or any group interested in supporting the event.
Who can participate? A team can be no more than 10 people and can be as small as 1 person. Teams can have children and adults of all ages but to experience the zipline tour, participants must be 10 years old, weigh between 70 and 250 pounds, and be able to control their speed on the zipline by raising their gloved hand above their head and demonstrate responsible control of speed by creating friction on the zipline. Age & Weight Requirements for the Treetop Adventure Park: Minimum Age: 4, Maximum Weight: 265 lbs.
How does a team help support Zipping For Autism and the Autism Society of North Carolina? Teams register on this website, make their own personal donations, and share their team information so others may contribute to the team goal as well. Any amount is helpful and appreciated, but minimum goals must be met to receive donated zipline tours from Adventure Center of Asheville.
How does a team participate in the zipline experience? The main requirement is a team must raise a minimum of $800 total, but we encourage teams to set their own goals as long as it is at least $800. Teams raising $800 or more will receive a two-hour zipline canopy tour experience through the trees for up to 10 people from Adventure Center of Asheville on the official Zipping for Autism date. Teams raising $1,100 or more will enjoy the zipline canopy tour experience as well as a two-hour adventure at Asheville Treetops Adventure Park on the event date.
How do I donate to an individual? To donate to an individual, not a team, please select the 'sponsor a participant' link on the home page. You can then select the individual by searching by the last name. You can also select individuals by clicking on their names in the team roster. You do not need to join a team or register to make a donation.
Why build a team? The Adventure Center of Asheville is donating every dollar raised through team fundraising to the Autism Society of North Carolina. All money raised will go to the Autism Society of North Carolina in the western region to offer respite, increase advocacy, and to assist families who cannot afford evaluative and diagnostic services. Teams have a great time on a Zipline Canopy Adventure and at the Treetops Adventure Park, and the Autism Society of North Carolina benefits from much-needed financial resources and increased public awareness.
